大菩文化福建讯 2018年10月28日至30日，第五届世界佛教论坛在福建省莆田市召开。论坛主题为“交流互鉴、中道圆融”，邀请海内外佛教界人士、学者等约800余位代表出席。斯里兰卡佛教部长Gamini Jayawikrama perera（佩雷拉）出席大会并发言。以下为讲话全文：
Doctrine of the Buddha preached twenty six centuries ago has brought peace in mind to the people and peace to the world. We are proud to say this doctrine, the Thripitakawas written down in the first century B C by Sri Lankan Bikkus at Aluvihara Temple and Buddhisam was continually preached, flourished and present in Srilanka since 3rd Century B C , up to date. The six colored Buddhist flag representing the enlightenment of the Buddha was a Sri Lankan contribution to the Buddhist world.
Buddha being a supreme human being who was born as a prince but born under a tree enlightened under a tree and passed away under a tree. Buddha preached for a universal compassion on ( Metta) loving – kindness (Karuna ) equality (samastha) self discipline (Seela) simple life on middle path and these are the Philosophies in life ,appreciated and practiced even after 2600 years. This will bring harmony in the world. Buddha s teaching is much more appreciated today to bring peace and harmony .Buddhist countries in the world is having a responsibility to bring one voice on philosophy of Buddha Damma to bring much needed peace and harmony to the world. The gathering of the world Buddhist Forum will be a platform to discuss and prosper practical solution to the survival and sustainability of the world. Buddha Damma promotes the co- existence of man, animal's plants and the good earth. I wish this special gathering of the Fifth World Buddhist Forum a great success to bring peace and harmony to the world.
